I have decided to take my photoblog over to another web hoster.  The new site is much cleaner looking, as well as much easier to use.  Along with that it also is a photoblog specific provider, focusing strictly on photography, unlike wordpress.  So please update your bookmarks and favorites to my new site.

I will try over the next couple months to transfer all images from this site to the new one, so bear with me as I do that.  Soon I will also have a nice portfolio page in which all my photos will be presented in a thumbnail format, and they can all be viewed quickly.

This is another photo from deep in my archives, in fact from more than two years ago.  This street is on the edge of town, with an open field right across the street, I would really like living there.  We’re heading to our hometown for the majority of the week, so I’m hoping to be able to take some more photos for my blog here.

This photo was shot a couple weeks ago while I had the rented lens.  Not very often to I photograph architectural details, but I would like to get into it a bit more.  The simplistic and clean look that can be achieved with architectural details really intrigues me, not to mention it is in my line of work.  You may noticed I’ve changed my signature, I wanted some that was more simplistic than before.

I’ve been really busy lately processing J&M’s engagement photos, so I have no taken any time to process some for my site here.  Here is a quick one though.  We went skating on Sunday, and I pointed the camera straight into the sun path on the ice.  Using a super fast shutter speed and narrow aperture I captured the texture of the ice nicely I think.  I like the way the ice looks scratched, but is a bit fluid from where they flooded it.

The lens I rented wasn’t anywhere near a macro lens, but I used it as such to take this photo.  These pieces of fruit are a cross between tangerines and oranges, so tanganges, or orangerines?  They are very good by the way, very sweet.

I like the side light aspect to this shot.  On second thought though, this is not really a macro shot…

It would appear that our weather is going to improve enough in the next couple days to be able to actually get outside, so I’ll be doing that, and hopefully coming up with some more interesting photos than shooting out our windows.  I’m also renting a Canon EF24-105 f/4 for the weekend, so we’ll see what kind of shots I can get with that.

Not only does new living arrangements mean bigger windows, it also means new interior lighting opportunities.   North facing windows (I find) give off the best light for indirect object lighting, and we’ve got a nice big one.  We also have a large on in the living room, so if I arrange things properly I can achieve light from both sources.  We’ll see what opportunities this gives me for shooting objects inside the house, this pineapple being the first I’ve tried.  Slow shutter speed meant the photo is not sharp, I could go back and shoot it again with a faster ISO speed, but I won’t.

This past weekend we drove up north to visit family and I was not driving, so that gave me a chance to try shooting some photos out the window of our car.  I captured a few that I feel worked out.  It is not very often that I can capture good photos out of a moving vehicle.
