I have decided to take my photoblog over to another web hoster.  The new site is much cleaner looking, as well as much easier to use.  Along with that it also is a photoblog specific provider, focusing strictly on photography, unlike wordpress.  So please update your bookmarks and favorites to my new site.

I will try over the next couple months to transfer all images from this site to the new one, so bear with me as I do that.  Soon I will also have a nice portfolio page in which all my photos will be presented in a thumbnail format, and they can all be viewed quickly.

I’ve been really busy lately processing J&M’s engagement photos, so I have no taken any time to process some for my site here.  Here is a quick one though.  We went skating on Sunday, and I pointed the camera straight into the sun path on the ice.  Using a super fast shutter speed and narrow aperture I captured the texture of the ice nicely I think.  I like the way the ice looks scratched, but is a bit fluid from where they flooded it.

The lens I rented wasn’t anywhere near a macro lens, but I used it as such to take this photo.  These pieces of fruit are a cross between tangerines and oranges, so tanganges, or orangerines?  They are very good by the way, very sweet.

I like the side light aspect to this shot.  On second thought though, this is not really a macro shot…

I’ve realized as I go through some of my old photo archives that I enjoy finding and photographing graffiti.  Often it is illegal, but the art within it draws me to explore it.  Sometimes graffiti can just plain be funny, as most was in Denmark, using English phrases that just don’t make sense.  This face I found at the Red Deer skate park.  In this case I deliberately over sharpened it to bring out the texture of the beaten concrete.

Another shot of Danish graffiti, and I think this even is fitting as Valentines Day approaches.   I am surprised at how sharp this photo turned out, considering my shutter speed is far below “sharp” standards.

I played around with adding textures to photos yesterday and thought I’d share a few.  The first one here is a photo taken in downtown Copenhagen.  In the background is the spire of St. Nikolaj Kirken.  Also to be found is a statue depicting fishing wives from Skovhoved, along with a statue of the cities founder, Archbishop Absalon.

After watching this video, I decided to try to process a photo with a vintage taste.  Not sure I did it justice, not as well as some of the photos in the video, but perhaps I can do some more research and do better again some other time.

I’m a big fan of my DSLR, but this photo was taken with our point-and-shoot, before we had bought the new camera.  The depth of field achievable with the small camera is amazing, considering the aperture was only f/4.

This photo was taken last summer at the Red Deer farmers market.  The nearby skatepark offered a number of interesting subjects, this one being completely covered in graffiti.  The graffiti definitely adds texture to the photo.
